Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) is
the newest and most advanced, non-surgical cancer treatment method that
delivers higher doses of radiation directly to the cancerous cells in a
more precise way then conventional radiation therapy. IMRT spares
surrounding healthy tissue, resulting in fewer side effects.
High Dose Rate (HDR) is another non-surgical treatment
for prostate and other cancers that involves the temporary insertion of
a highly intense radioactive seed. This radiation therapy is
usually performed on an outpatient basis, so patients have no overnight
hospital stays and less overall recovery time.
Our entire radiation oncology team is board certified
and will develop an individual treatment plan for each patient - and
coordinate all treatments with the patient's referring physician.
Both IMRT and HDR enable us to offer the same treatment capabilities as
a major medical center.
